Welcome to The Wholeistic Way

My name is Amy and I am the woman behind Wholeistic Way. I am a health and wellness groupie eternally battling her killer sweet tooth. I'm a Kinesiology Major, a Holistic Nutrition student, ex-rugby player, runner, CrossFitter and baker extraordinaire. I was born and raised in the southeast of England, and now reside in Ontario, Canada, which, lucky for me, has resulted in a hybrid- Australian/Canadian accent. I’m a sports fan, dog obsessed and absolutely in love with a select few people that I’m fortunate enough to call my family and friends.
Now before I go on, I feel I must include a disclaimer here:
Unlike most wellness bloggers, nutritionists, fitness experts or personal trainers, I didn’t fall into this health journey because I suffered in the past. Since I can remember I have always been fairly active and athletic, and have always been interested in the human body and how it all works. I’ve always enjoyed baking, mainly to satisfy said previously mentioned sweet-tooth, and I’ve always loved to find guilt-free alternatives to my favourite sweet treats. To me, it was simple – once I no longer played sports anymore and could rely on that forgiving, teenage metabolism, it was up to me to make my health and exercise a priority. So that is what I did.
But something was missing.
Although I always naturally gravitated towards a healthier, active lifestyle, I never really found my place within it all. After graduating with a Kinesiology Degree in 2011, it didn’t take me long to realize that being a Kinesiologist, Physiotherapist, Chiropractor or Personal Trainer just wasn’t for me. I can't count the number of jobs and roles I've had since my University graduation - working in gyms, working as a fundraiser in non-profit, going back to school to study Communications, working in a few health clinics, working in the sports industry for an MLB team...the list really does go on. All the while I didn’t really know what ‘called’ to me, but I knew that it was no coincidence that my passion for nutrition, fitness, running, disease prevention, whole foods cooking, meat-free and plant-based diets and overall health and happiness continued to deepen every day.
And so, as it turns out, the answer was in front of me the entire time.
Here I was, searching for one specific box that I could fit into, when ultimately, the key to health and happiness lies in a complete 360-degree, integrated, holistic approach. Hallelujah.
Enter, Wholeistic Way.
In early-2018, I will be starting my journey to becoming a Certified Holistic Nutritionist through the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. I will be able to take all my self-taught, passion-fueled, knowledge and experience, and combine it with the science, hands-on, holistic learning that is going to be my everyday for the next two years. And I cannot wait.
Wholeistic Way is here for you to follow along with my journey. I am truly powered and driven by the notion that we can be the absolute best version of ourselves through living a holistic, balanced, all-around-amazing lifestyle; my hope is that I can pass along my knowledge and experience to you to integrate in your life, and ultimately create that healthy and happy person that you were meant to be.
Living ‘the wholeistic way’ means looking at life and health from a holistic view. It means approaching your well-being from all angles, and realizing that it’s all just one giant, beautiful and amazing puzzle.
